Stats compared with those posted yesterday, and some additional ones posted to begin a starting comparison.

The extra ones I'm adding into the count are the ones that I could for see there being... rating issues in based what I know of the fandoms. I understand that most of these numbers are useless out of context but I'm planning on doing a systematic update and I have to start somewhere. I picked ones with specific "adult themes" or copywrite timebombs.

I loled that only one Law and Order SVU is adult.

Yeah, I had that same thought. I picked the list with a bunch of thoughts... things with copy write problems, things with abnormal amounts of non-con, incest, or slash fic written about them. Or just really really popular. SVU is the most popular in that franchise and spawns an abnormal amount of fan fic. .

I was rather shocked that only one of the SVU stories was adult because... I sometimes think I'm not old enough to watch that show ;)

I've never read fic but I've watched the show. I can't even think what an under-13 rated fic would be like.

Regarding the copywrite timebombs, how quick do you think those Fanlib members will pull out once some start getting sued...and how soon before Fanlib starts handing out t-shirts for crappy stories?

I think the biggest copywrite time bomb on the list is LotR, but that's basically the consensus here. I think the most striking thing to me is a fan fic archieve that doens't get a single Harry Potter story posted to in in a 24 hour period... is telling.

But I'm going to try and do daily stats across this list of fandoms so we can work off solid numbers instead of inferences.

I never really understood this issue, but it has come up several times. Coming from BtVS and AtS (where the Foxhounds were always at our heels closing sites left and right) I've found the LOTR fandom to be a very comfy place in this regard.

Could someone enlighten me where this perception comes from that LOTR is especially endangered?

Could you add Gundam Wing to your stats please? When Fanlib was first being talked about I gave one of my GW community a head's up and less than 24 hrs later half the GW stories had vanished from Fanlib.

I added Gundam Wing/AC into the stats as of June 3. While Fanlib has a small "Gundam Wing" catagory without the "/AC", FFN does not and I want to keep the comparisons direct.

that depends...i've heard that some of those authors work for the site's company in order to beef up their fanfic counts. i wonder how that will go down once they get sued (if they do) 'no your honor, i work for the company and therefore was told to write to fanfic, so really i was just doing my job, therefore i feel i should not be found guilty of copyright violations. those other authors, yah, sick them..."

and i believe they have already begun handing out those shirts...
