Ah. So they're around, but in relatively obscure corners of fandom. I bet FanLib wouldn't have guessed that the very public Gateworld was obscure for fandom, but most people I know feel that Gateworld is too exposed for fanfic.

Hmm. I've noticed in past Lord of the Rings archives that where slash is disallowed, certain Gen and Het authors who hate slash tended to post there.

So... yeah, if you do most of your fannish stuff in Atlantis fandom, you probably wouldn't know these people who are active elsewhere.

I'm actually multi-fandom. Started out in Lord of the Rings in 1999 (meta on the very conservative barrow-downs, some slash in 2001), then was in Harry Potter from 2002-2005, mostly known in the Ron/Draco, Snape/Harry corners, though I did write Ron/Hermione. I ran the Percy ficathon and still have the Percyness archive. With the 2003 crackdown on NC-17 archives in HP I started the "RS.org sleazy fic drive" protest which was responsible for some of the strangest NC-17 fic in HP.

I moved over to SG-1 which I wrote for a year, Jack/Daniel humor and gen Jack/Daniel friendship fics. In 2006 I started writing Atlantis, John/Rodney (of course) with a surprising amount of gen. Now I have 14 Supernatural fics that I'm still writing, bunnied to death by this fandom.

I've run into trouble for being willing to give fanfic too much exposure outside of fandom, so it's really surprising that I've come down against FanLib. The Atlantis slashers know I'm not afraid of exposure. But the exploitation has really bothered me. Does FanLib give us the stick to hit the copyright-bears, or are we to provide our own?

So, what was I saying? Oh. Yeah. I'm not really just in the Atlantis fandom.

Also, I totally understand the LJ handle/other name confusion. When I started my LJ I was ladyofemynarnen, which confused lots of people because I'd been using Melyanna for a few years elsewhere. I grabbed this user name as soon as it came up in a mass journal purge.

I'm still waiting for [livejournal.com profile] icarus to give up the name. *sigh* They haven't posted in five years.
