Well, I'm so fucking cynical that I think that initially it was all about money. But then the potential political factor dove-tailed nicely into the whole mix. We got grassroots organizations that are operating on a shoe-string. All those non-profits making the oil companies lives HELL. They we have the oil companies. Of course, it makes sense in a horrible way. You make them LESS efficient.
Do we even want to mention how civil liberties is synonymous with terrorist threat in this current administration?
