A word about the 4400. I included this originally because it is a popular science fiction show with the 4th season starting monday, June 11, 2007 on USA. I am going to keep it in the stats for a bit past that premier date to see if it picks up but if it remains unchanged in both archieves for a number of days after the premier I will drop it out of the sample.

Thank you so much for tracking all this. It's very interesting and I'm far too lazy to do it myself!

This gives me a little glow of schadenfreude every day.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do it!

These stats never fail to make me smile. I suppose the release of book seven in HP will probably bring in fresh meat....

125 New Potter fics in one day?

Yipes!
How could an author ever build a following in that noise?

Just a commentator here since I've been looking at Fanlib and it's foibles too after it got brought up on adultfanfiction.net forum to much snickering at their lunacy.

You might want to consider adding Naruto into your sample since it's current the second biggest archive on ff.net behind Harry Potter at 80,000+ fics and is out-pacing Inu Yasha's popularity and longevity.

It does strike me as odd though too that most of Fanlib's focus is on anything but the anime fandoms when their marketing material seems to be begging to that target audience, the teenage fangirls and boys that are just getting into it and don't know better. Even the Amazon certificates would seem to be attractive to them since us otaku are notorious for spending ungodly sums of money on DVD's and manga. A $50 certificate buys almost 6 to 7 volumes of the Naruto manga in English.

. . . The only problem with this is that you'd also have to sell the mainstream on anime, which hasn't been sold on video game adaptations yet either.

Anyway, my two cents.
