Farscape fandom had a tight and friendly relationship with the showrunners and the crew, particularly the Australian fans, but even beyond that. These connections, like in Xena fandom, developed organically because the the crew and cast liked to talk about what they were doing, and liked to hear what the fans had to say.
I'm reminded again of Creation Entertainment, who insists on commodifying that relationship of fan-to-producer at their cons, in a way that treats both the fans and the cast and crew quite poorly. (They treat the actors like meat, basically.)
