Date: 2007-06-09 09:51 pm (UTC)Yep, that makes it glaringly obvious.
Hell, I bet Walking the Plank, a Snape/Harry specific archive, gets more action than Fanlib.

Date: 2007-06-09 10:32 pm (UTC)One thing that concerns me about this is that it's a bit misleading. If we think about ff.net, and how huge and well-known it is, it's not surprising that over 1300 fics have been posted (net) when FanLib got only 6.
I think it'd be fairer to look at percentage growth, but I doubt it would be nearly as encouraging. And even that might be wrongly inflated in the other direction, because FL has such few numbers to start with. Even a single fic being posted is a large net gain compared to even 100 fics being posted on ff.net.

Date: 2007-06-09 10:43 pm (UTC)But you're right, people should be importing all of their old ones, too. Clearly, they're not. At least, not in the great numbers one might expect.

Date: 2007-06-09 10:47 pm (UTC)I don't have the number handy but some days back I went through their entire list of fandoms and came up with a total number of stories somewhere in the 5500 range. That's not enough of an archieve to sustain a profit driven buisness model I'd suspect.

Date: 2007-06-09 11:00 pm (UTC)Harry Potter - 130
Stargate Atlantis - 32
Stargate SG-1 - 21
Lord of the Rings - 3
Supernatural - er, 1
I'm by no means the most prolific author in any of those fandoms, not even HP.

Date: 2007-06-10 01:51 am (UTC)I'm sure other analysis can be done but I think the numbers as they are give us a fairly decent idea of how fanlib is doing.
I mean, there are lj comms that get more fanfic posts.

Date: 2007-06-09 11:11 pm (UTC)As for your earlier question about the SPN fics... I'll admit that I included that fandom for among other reasons, the fact that I suspected that because of the nature of the fandom they were the most likely to have stories yanked by Fanlibs "moderate to the max" folks.
Besides Bible fandom.
